Gwen Ifill did not tell the Commission on Presidential Debates about her book

October 2, 2008

Gwen Ifill  has politicized her role by choosing to not disclose her authorship of a book, “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.”  There is simply no question that she should have disclosed this potential conflict of interest and MSM stories like this one from CNN completely ignore this point.

In the eighth paragraph of the Associated Press article it states Ifill “she did not tell the Commission on Presidential Debates about the book.”

The Commission on Presidential Debates is responsible for choosing moderators and organizing debate terms between the candidates and/or their campaigns and as of now, they had no comment for the Associated Press and other media organizations that have tried to contact them regarding this issue.

Wake up America: Gwen Ifill Never Disclosed ‘Age of Obama’ Book To Presidential Debate Commission.

Update: Apparently the Columbia Journalism Review agrees that Ifill has a conflict of interest.

An analysis of Katie Couric asking Palin and Biden about Roe v. Wade

October 2, 2008

Law professor Ann Althouse (pro-abortion rights) analyzes both the questioning by Couric and the responses of Biden and Palin and finds the conventional wisdom of the events to be incorrect.

Why didn’t Couric press him on his expansive view of his own power and disregard for the role of the states? Will he bring similar expansive theories of constitutional power to the executive branch?

Absolute deafening silence from Katie Couric. She gave him a free pass. The viewer is invited to sit back and admire Joe Biden as an impressive authority on constitutional law… not like that ignoramus Sarah Palin. Very few viewers will perceive what has been done here.

Boston Globe pushing false Palin rape-kit myth after thorough debunking

October 2, 2008

The Boston Globe is pushing the totally discredited Sarah Palin rape-kit story; no news organization at this stage of the game can push such smears without truly exposing their bias.  The Palin rumor mill is being assisted by the Mainstream Media wing of Obama’s campaign.

But the truth is that there is no record of a rape victim ever being charged for a rape kit by Wasilla; there’s no evidence Mayor Palin knew about the policy or took any action on it either way; and no record of a victim’s insurance company being charged by the town.

How does an alleged “newspaper” make such a claim without any facts whatsoever?

The story is old news in the new media. Left-leaning Slate.com called it “a nasty and untrue rumor.” National Review’s Jim Geraghty, who has written exhaustively on the story calls it “unsupported by the facts.” But at the Obama-Uber-Alles Boston Globe, they call it “news.”

We have come to the point in the media’s treatment of Gov. Sarah Palin where even the fig leaf of pretense is gone. The press has openly chosen sides and has stopped apologizing for it.

The day that truth and fairness died
